Spending much money for pregnant clothes is an alternative with a deadline, that’s why some women are not willing to pay for them. I’m one of those women! I do think it’s worth to buy a couple of pieces – and necessary – but I wasn’t really willing to spend a lot os clothes I was gonna wear for just a few months.
My first alternativa was to have some maxiskirts taylored. I bought the fabric and asked the taylor to sew them for me. The first thing to do was doing them with a thinner elastic in the waistband so it wouldn’t bother me by folding. The second thing was to make the upfront part shorter than the back, so as the bump grew I could put the waistband down and the skirt still wouldn’t touch the floor. Third, as I’m not wearing heels, sew the hem without cutting it, so after the baby is born I can have it back to its normal lenght and wear heels again.
Pregnant women don’t need to wear maxiskirts only, we can still wear jeans. Luckily there are some options for preggers at affordable stores, these jeans – both shorts and pants – have a kind of protective cotton knitted waistband to “hold” the bump. I found a flare styled jeans at Riachuelo and it fits me perfectly!
With these bottons I can easily match with basic and/or neutral tops. I have tons of colored tank tops and blouses that go with either teh skirts or the jens. The most important thing is to wear something that makes me feel comfortable, and these clothes do provide me with comfort. Thumbs up!
